In depth

Verdict

A good nursery contest in which narrow preference is for ABRIACHAN ahead of Ejaab, Leviathon and Bahamian Music. The selection looks to be fairly assessed on a mark of 82, given that the horse he beat last time (Yarra River) has since run well off a mark of 81. Young Ian Brennan is good value for his 7lb claim and with improvement to come this well-bred colt can provide his trainer with a rare win at the track. Top-weight Tominator impressed at Beverley last time but this mark will make life tough, so a bigger threat may be Leviathon who is proven on this ground and his form stacks up well. Bridge Valley has stamina to prove, Reeds Bay needs watching in the betting after a poor run at Sandown, whilst Ejaab looks like he'll appreciate this longer trip although the race fell into his lap at Catterick and doubts surround the merit of that form. Ginger Ted continues to be underestimated but he looks progressive on a soft surface so along with the long-striding Bahamian Music should be high on any shortlist. The latter managed to win despite the track at Wolverhampton last time and this long straight really should see her to great effect. William Morgan romped home at Redcar midweek; he can be a bit keen on the way to post but he shouldn't be underestimated at a track his trainer loves to win at. Jimmy The Poacher must be monitored closely in the betting, however for the selection we will return to Abriachan.
