In depth

Verdict

Although Yashin has taken a fair bit of time to get his act together this season, the form of his last few starts is working out well and he is selected over the frustrating Smith N Allan Oils and Concer Eto as he takes a slight ease in grade tonight. That said, a move Kind Emperor could be significant as he obviously loves his racing at this track and already has four previous course wins to his name. The Patrick Gilligan-trained gelding goes well fresh and, as a versatile performer regarding his best trip, he has to be considered a danger to them all. Balerno is another that is worth noting as he has also hit form at the right time for this. His defeat of Jonny Ebeneezer has been boosted on a couple of occasions since and he should go well for his Epsom-based trainer. A first ever visit to Yarmouth for Smith N Allan Oils could be the change of scenery needed to bring about an improved effort from Michael Dodds' charge as he seems to need everything to drop right for him. The new experience of the sea air may help him stay focused and he will be very difficult to keep out of the frame with a clear passage here. However, in the search for value, we prefer the claims of Yashin, as he is still open to plenty of improvement and, as he ran well on his only other start here, he has plenty in his favour from a mark of 60 in this company.
