Verdict

A relatively competitive stayers' hurdle can be taken by CHOUMAKEUR, who can get the better of fellow hat-trick seeker Arctic Shadow and Rifleman. The last named is 4lbs better off with the selection for a 10 length beating when they met at Southwell earlier in the month, and he does act on the ground, so should be able to finish closer. However, even though that was his first run for well over a year, he looked straight enough and probably will not have enough improvement in him to bridge the gap. Since then Choumakeur has come out and won again at Newton Abbot, and he now shoulders a further 7lb penalty. David Pipe's charge acts on the ground and still looks to have enough in the locker to oblige once more. Arctic Shadow has scored over staying trips at both Uttoxeter and Market Rasen, both over fences, and now returning to hurdles he looks well handicapped if he is able to reproduce that form. He acts with cut and his chance is much respected. Old Brigade is interesting and open to improvement after just six runs, and he will relish conditions, so market confidence would raise eyebrows. Dawn At Sea flatters to deceive and remains a maiden after 13 attempts in this discipline and we prefer the claims of Choumakeur.
