In depth

Verdict

Tony Carroll is a trainer that certainly knows the time of day in races of this nature and his Brave Dane can land his third consecutive success in this sphere. Mandoob and Cullen Road have claims at this level and, along with Saddlers Quest, who will be staying on when others have cried enough, are expected to pose the most problems. Mandoob fared very well under a big weight at Plumpton at the start of this month and will be a popular choice to better that effort today. However, he did have a hard race that day and his jumping let him down near the finish. He will not get away with it again this afternoon. Cullen Road has some good course form to his name and has gone the closest to losing his maiden tag when racing here in the past. However, his overall profile leaves the suspicion that he saves a little for himself and he may again find one too good today. Which we hope will be Brave Dane, who took to this game well last season notching a quick-fire double in May. Carroll has kept his charge sweet by several recent outings on the Flat, but a much better performance is expected from his charge now that he returns to the game he has shown the most aptitude for.
