In depth

Verdict

Dodger McCartney can step up on a promising first effort to take the bumper at the expense of Davnic and Marie De Marsal. Although it was last October when Dodger McCartney made his debut, hopefully he will be fit enough to go one better than when second to Complete Outsider at Exeter. Kevin Bishop's charge stayed on well in the final furlong as he got the hang of things and does not meet anything exceptional today. The Irish raider Davnic is an unexposed quantity and any money for her would be interesting. Marie De Marsal was a bit too keen on her second start, at Market Rasen, but that was behind Iris's Prince who is reckoned to be useful, so she can improve as well. Blaze On hung badly behind another Jonjo O'Neill hotpot, Square Mile, here last time but ran well for a long way and is another to consider for place purposes. If fit enough though, Dodger McCartney can prove up to the task.
