Verdict

Another trappy looking contest with 18 runners set to line up for this novices' handicap chase in which what can only be a tentative choice goes to Vidi Caesar, who gets the nod over Imago II and Sunshine Boy. The selection has only had three starts since coming over from New Zealand, all over hurdles, and has shown progressive form. Potentially well handicapped on his chase debut, Richard Guest's gelding has every chance of making a winning debut in what is a moderate looking contest. Jonjo O'Neill's Imago II showed little in three starts last term but is difficult to discount completely, while Sunshine Boy has slipped to an attractive mark. Ludlow novices' chase winner Compton Chick and another handicap debutante Caliwag are others to consider, while a market move for Sparkling Cascade would be of interest.
