    In depth

    Verdict

Shrewd has won three times over hurdles this year and has obvious claims if carrying that improvement over to the Flat. But this is a competitive contest with Heart Locket upped in class after scoring at Lingfield and both Zakatal and Grand Meister going close at Chelmsford on their latest starts. The latter pair are both course and distance winners and SCARLET MINSTREL just missed out over track and trip last time when six lengths clear of the rest in second. An apprentice's 5lb allowance further helps his cause and Andrew Balding's charge gets the vote.
