In depth

Verdict

Eau Good was in action over the minimum trip at Southwell on Thursday, and connections obviously fancy their chances of running up a quick sequence with the former Mark Johnston gelding so he gets the nod again today ahead of Milson's Point and Nina Blini. The selection is a course and distance winner, and although he could start a fairly short price favourite, he looks the obvious choice. It was thought that Milson's Point would be put away for the year after his win last time out, however those plans look to have been shelved and indeed he drops again in trip today. He travels strongly throughout his races, yet he doesn't always find as much off the bridle as is anticipated and so for that reason he is passed over today. Brian Meehan doesn't send out a shedload of horses at this time of year however Nina Blini, a former Group race performer, obviously has the ability to go close here if putting her best hoof forward. She ran useful yardstick Beauchamp Viceroy close last time out, and a repeat of that run could see her go close. Of the others, course and distance winner Charlotte Grey goes for her hat-trick, although this is a much tougher race and she was all-out to win last time out so will need to step up on that to trouble the judge today. With that in mind, Eau Good looks to be a horse on a roll and is selected to take this race in his stride.
