    Verdict

Trouble Maker is taken to come out on top over Mirasol Princess, Jalouhar and Park Star, with Taras Tornado not to be ruled out either. Trouble Maker was placed twice in apprentice company in October and shaped well when dropped to this grade here just over three weeks ago, finishing second to Magic Amour. Andrew Balding's gelding is open to more improvement at this level, having not had too many races yet, and should be capable of going one better today. Mirasol Princess was frustrating to follow last year, but was only edged out close home by Amanda's Lad at Southwell recently, and back over this longer trip with first-time blinkers applied, can give the selection most to do. Jalouhar gave apprentice Sonia Eaton her first winner when successful over the course and distance in December and since then has suffered back-to-back defeats at Southwell. This faster surface clearly suits him better, and he is another that can play a part in proceedings, but strictly on latest form he looks held by Park Star. Taras Tornado ran her best race when second to The History Man in an nursery at Ayr in October, but has had just the one subsequent outing at Southwell a month later and may well be in need of the run. In a fairly open affair it is Trouble Maker that can prove profitable to follow.
