Verdict

RIO GRANDE stands out here. He never recovered from a tardy start over the minimum trip at York last time, but finished a close-up sixth in a blanket finish over today's distance at Newmarket before that and this is less competitive. Gulf Storm did better at Haydock last time and can figure, but Heidi's Delight and Talya's Storm were both well beaten at Nottingham in August when the former finished five lengths ahead of today's rival. Spykes Bay makes more appeal than fellow newcomer Champagne Reefing.
