In depth

Verdict

Mr Dip has shown improved form since being stepped up in trip and is taken to follow up his recent success over course and distance, with Dances With Angels and West End Wonder rated the main dangers. The selection had both Little Richard (fourth) and West End Wonder (fifth) behind when winning a similar contest here two weeks ago and there is no reason why Tony Carroll's gelding cannot confirm the form now that his trainer has found the son of Reprimand's right trip. West End Wonder would look to be the biggest threat from that contest, as Mark Wallace's gelding remains open to improvement after just five career starts. Dances With Angels was also behind the selection in that race, finishing in third place, and has an obvious chance on that form but was disappointing at Southwell on Tuesday and may be best watched at present. The ex-Irish Madhahir will have no problem with the trip but has given little sign of encouragement since joining Chris Dwyer and of more interest may be Fairmorning, who is a long-standing maiden but has run well over this trip in the past. Mr Dip has an obvious chance though and is preferred.
