Verdict

The usual suspects on view and Sharp Hat is preferred to Prime Recreation and Lady Hopeful. Backers are having to take a chance that Sharp Hat's recent dismal display was a bad day off at the office but he has the draw in his favour and his second to How's She Cuttin' on the turf reads well in the context of this race. Prime Recreation does have an absence to overcome but has ran well here in the past and the market is watched in case there are any signs of confidence. Lady Hopeful is another to have course form and with Peter Grayson's stable heading back to some semblance of form, a victory from her would not be a total surprise. Davids Mark may find this a more realistic assignment having been clobbered by the handicapper for consistent efforts at low grade. Ex-Spanish, Montillia is taking a first drop into this grade, and on the evidence of previous betting patterns, he should be given more than just a cursory glance in the market. Three-times track scorer, Percy Douglas should run his usual race despite a long absence. Desert Dust is still a maiden but is not without ability. A headscratcher to get underway and Sharp Hat is the selection to minimum stakes.
