In depth

Verdict

Almavara can recoup recent losses, with Red Chairman, Procrastinate and newcomers Charade and Isle de Maurice seen as the main dangers. There was plenty of market confidence behind Almavara on his Lingfield debut three weeks ago, but Jeremy Noseda's charge lost all chance when missing the break completely, in the end having to settle for sixth behind Yo Pedro. The latter is trained by David Loder who now saddles Red Chairman, so he will at least have a line to work on as his gelding bids to better his recent second to Heybrook Boy here. He has had his chances though and faces a rival with much more scope. Procrastinate falls very much into the same category but may do better over this slightly longer trip, while the market should be noted regarding newcomers Charade and Isle de Maurice. The latter is a half-brother to Don Micheletto and is bred to be a useful middle-distance performer, so if he they pile into him in the ring watch out, but with that run under his belt, albeit a none-too-lucky one, Almavara is selected to atone.
