Moayed is down in class again but he isn't the most straight-forward of rides and so it may pay to take a chance with MARCH MATE. Brian Ellison's gelding comes here after a two month break and he was last seen on the flat at Carlisle back in August. He was well-held on that occasion but his earlier form in the summer off marks in the low 50's reads fairly well. His is still a maiden, which is an obvious worry, but with market support he could gain his first success. Moment Of Clarity and Sion Hill are both course and distance winners and each comes here on the back of a second place, whilst Machinate didn't run badly behind Alf Tupper last time. King Of Legend is the only recent winner in the line-up and George Foster's course and distance winner should go well despite a 2lb rise in the weights. Kirkie and Spume represent shrewd connections, however a bigger threat may be Samurai Warrior who continues to run well and he is not badly handicapped on old form. A tricky opener, but a chance is taken on March Mate.
