In depth

Verdict

Birkside won well last time out and Declan Carroll's admirable gelding is taken to win again ahead of Crazy Bear and Punta Galera. Despite being only four-years-old, the selection has won eight times from 27 starts, a record that is impressive regardless of the grade. He is now 1lb above his highest winning mark but he comes here on a roll and should be fancied to win again. Crazy Bear also comes here on the back of some good runs. The 'V' in the form figures stands for a void race because of a fallen and prostrate rider and horse, but he had won well before that outing and he should run well. The King And I and Punta Galera are both consistent and each should be involved in the shakeup, whilst Mighty Kitchener has been out of form but has won over the course and distance before. Birkside is the most reliable horse and he gets the vote to win again.
