In depth

Verdict

Eurolink Artemis put up an encouraging display at Southwell last month, though he was comfortably beaten into second there, but was well down the field and reportedly lost his action here the other day. Assuming he is fully recovered from that, he should again feature here. However, the TEAMtalk vote goes to Mallard, who won over course and distance in April and has been given a long break since being well beaten next time out over an inadequate trip at Windsor. Back over his optimum, and with that break in his favour he can defy a 4lb rise and win here. Contact has just one win to his name, and despite sliding fully 20lb in the ratings in the past 12 months, he will still find this one very tricky to win and a place should be his best hope. Heathers Girl has performed creditably here over track and trip on a few occasions without getting her head in front and still looks to be exposed, despite a drop. Similarly, Littleton Zephyr looks to be exposed, though she has place claims if she can get close enough to them over a mile.
