Divertimenti can halt the winning streak of Mountain Cat in this modest handicap, where Cape Velvet also makes appeal at the likely odds. It would also be dangerous to rule out Areyaam, who showed ability in maidens before running too freely and failing to get home on her handicap debut. She is in the right hands with Jamie Spencer to gain a patient ride and a better effort would hardly be a bolt from the blue. Cape Velvet has been given a chance by the handicapper and almost got off the mark at Windsor last month. This is not much tougher and she should not be underestimated if support arrives for her in the betting ring. Similar comments apply to Mountain cat, who has won three of his last four starts in good style. He is sure to make this a good test and cannot confidently be ruled out in his current frame of mind. However, Divertimenti has held his own is slightly better company in the past and this former inmate of Jim Bolger's looks the best betting proposition on these terms.
