Verdict

Elegant Cad is a confident pick ahead of Layer Cake and Skid Solo. The selection didn't put up too much of a show in a French Group 3 but he is well regarded by John Best at home and his fifth in the Norfolk Stakes represents solid form at this lesser level. Layer Cake has to be respected with John Hills firing in the winners. Unfancied on debut, he plugged on well once the penny dropped. Skid Solo has proved regressive this term. Owned by the Comic Strip Heroes, he hasn't quite matched the run of his cohort, Winker Watson. Weet In Nerja was quietly backed at Southwell but this race is against better opposition. Superstitious Me doesn't look anything special. Chatterszaha showed plenty of early pace on debut at Newmarket. Liliaceae shouldn't be good enough. Elegant Cad has plenty of ticks in the right boxes and is recommended accordingly.
