      In depth

      Formwatch

First Steps (IRE) Some good placed form over the summer, including a win at Newbury over 1m2f. C&D winner in Feb and was subsequently second in June; cannot be ignored.

Flying Trapeze (USA) An impressive hat trick of wins over 1m 2f in July, having his first run on the AW; should go close.

Scottish Knight Stepping up to Handicap company having been unplaced in five maidens.

Artifact Some winning form back in January, but has been out of form over the summer; others preferred.

Reasoning Much improved when second at Doncaster latest; must have a good chance today.

Trooper Collins (IRE) Steps up an extra furlong today; has not been impressive over 7/8f.

Polish Paddy (IRE) Scored his first win in Blinkers last October; form since has lacked consistency but if producing the better form cannot be dismissed.

Urban Myth Only 1L beaten here last time on the slow track, looks to be a better horse on the AW; should go close.

On Guard Showed a marked improvement when C&D second latest, a reproduction of that performance would make him a serious contender today.

Reap Steps up in trip a furlong today, but does not look the likely winner.

Umbopa (USA) Ran here latest over 8f, looks to be improving; cannot be ignored today.

Shining Oasis (IRE) A winner over 7f last August but has not been placed since, including over 1m1f on the slow course here.

Mint Julep (IRE) Beaten soundly in all six starts; makes little appeal.
