    Verdict

With all due respect, this is a decidedly modest contest, one in which Welcome Break looks to hold an obvious and outstanding chance on the best of his form. Inglewood might chase him home. Placed in an 12-furlong amateurs' event at Southwell in January of last year, a repetition of that effort would be good enough, and the longer trip should present no problems to him. The booking of Tony Culhane is also a positive sign. Most of the others have shown very little indeed recently on the Flat, with their better efforts coming in low-grade hurdles. As such, we return to Welcome Break as the most likely winner, and he gets the nomination.
