Verdict

From a shortlisted quartet of Summerise, Cirrious, Spinning Coin and Zalimar, we will side with the last-named. The Luca Cumani-trained selection showed promise on her Turf debut last time after meeting with some trouble in running. Stepping up in trip, she is open to improvement and can go well much as backing three-year-olds against older horses at this time of year if often a flawed strategy, but there were other options open to her astute trainer, and we will take that as a positive sign. Cirrious has shown improvement of late and a mark of 58 still makes her competitive for us for, much as she was a little disappointing last time, the trip seemed to count against her and a return to 12 furlongs should see her in a better light tonight. Spinning Coin is also on an upward curve, having won her last two races, but she has gone up six pounds in the ratings for the most recent of them. It will be interesting to see how she copes with that, although she is still respected. Summerise, who has won three of her last four races, is also on a career-high mark but, in good heart, she can still go well. Of the others, In Good Faith, a Nicky Henderson-trained French winner could be interesting if backed but, overall, we will stick with Zalimar.
