Verdict

Verkhotina looked progressive when scoring at Chepstow last time and, despite carrying a six-pound penalty, can score again. The Roger Charlton-trained filly is lightly raced and suggested that her current mark is a false one judged on her Chepstow stroll. As such she rates a worthy selection. Her biggest dangers might be Hughie Morrison's Fiddle Me Blue, who is stepped up to six furlongs here and can go well if settling better, the unexposed Inn Classic, Richard Hannon's Bohola Flyer, Under My Spell, who is five pounds better off for the three-and-a-half lengths she finished behind the selection at Chepstow last time (Urban Rose was third and looks held today), Whistful, who is also relatively unexposed but is bred to be quick, Michael Bell's Shrink, and Thirsk winner Party Princess, who clearly appreciated the quicker going she encountered last time. Overall, though, for us Verkhotina is clearly the one to beat.
