Banellie was having his first start since October when an excellent runner-up to Spider Bob at Downpatrick and looks sure to make his presence felt. Third-placed Verumontanum doesn't appear to have much hope of reversing the form as he was fit from a run over timber in April. Mullagh Abu landed a handicap at Downpatrick from 6lbs lower a month ago before a poor run at Limerick. He bounced back with a better display on fast ground at Tramore last week and is on the short-list. SPLIT EAR was always travelling well when scoring at Ballinrobe at the end of last month and though facing a 6lbs rise here looks capable of completing a quick double for the Mullins family.
