In depth

Verdict

INDEFENSIBLE is nominated here ahead of Safe Investment, Keyneema and Kassuta. Evan Williams' gelding was an impressive winner at Plumpton earlier this month before unseating his rider when attempting a quick follow up at Fontwell. He seems to have improved for good ground and going handicapping off a mark of 84 and under this 7lb penalty he looks sure to be hard to beat. Top-weight Trafalgar Man ran a better race in defeat last time and the handicapper continues to give him a chance; he is now 9lb lower than when starting off in handicap company in September. Keyneema was impressive when winning a seller at Fakenham but this looks tougher, so whilst he needs respect (selling form often underrated) he is passed over. As is Ton Chee if quickly turned out as this uphill finish may not be ideal, whilst Heroes is one to keep an eye on now encountering better ground with cheek-pieces back on. Ice Image and Kassuta are two more to add to any shortlist but it is Indefensible who gets the verdict.
