In depth

Verdict

Allistathebarrista gets a tentative vote over Ossmoses, Capt Jack and Best Accolade, with Heraldry worth a mention as well. Sue Smith has enjoyed plenty of success already this week, and can notch up another winner here with Allistathebarrista who got off to the best possible start when beating a more fancied stablemate at Uttoxeter in May. That was on heavy ground, and conditions were also testing when he returned to action just last month to finish third behind the long odds-on Tidal Bay. The slightly better ground here will help, he will be that bit fitter, and should go close over this longer trip. Capt Jack returns from a two-month break and has a double penalty to carry, so is worth taking on, while Ossmoses is better known for his chasing exploits and has not been out for 259-days. However, he does go well fresh so might make his presence felt for a while. Best Accolade also returns to the fray but looks the best of Howard Johnson's quartet, and any support for Pat Haslam's Heraldry would be interesting. For the winner we return to Allistathebarrista.
