Verdict

Potentate had been struggling in handicaps until taking advantage of a drop in class to lift a claimer at Plumpton and faces no easy task here under a welter weight burden. Pipe's charge has to concede 15lb to Lanzlo which can see the Philip Hobbs-trained gelding back in the winners' enclosure having dropped down to a most attractive handicap mark. The five-year-old is 1lb lower than when successful at Stratford last September and, with ground conditions in his favour, he should prove up to the task with Dabarpour returning on a stiffish mark after an absence of five months.
