In depth

Verdict

Gala Ball has a cracking record over hurdles and fences. He was in tremendous form in the spring and was having only his second run back when battling to victory in this grade at Wincanton. Two Taffs, a Listed winner at Ayr in 2017, returned from two years off to run a cracker in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby before finding the Ladbroke Trophy beyond his capabilities at Newbury. Katpoli easily landed a Southwell handicap on December then jumped badly at Taunton before returning to Wetherby and landing a handicap at this grade for which he's only been raised 2lb. CLONDAW CASTLE was just run out of it in a Listed handicap at Ascot but wasn't right when tackling Grade 3 company at Cheltenham next time so hopefully can bounce back. Belami Des Pictons, a brilliant novice, hasn't shown much since returning from a very long break.
