In depth

Verdict

Top weight LORD BASKERVILLE is thought good enough to win in this company with both Last Pioneer and Bold Policy worth noting in the betting market. The selection won in this grade over course and distance last month. He was not discredited when tried back in a more competitive handicap last time out finishing third in the process. Now back at this grade he should be difficult to beat if back to his best. Last Pioneer is seven pounds better off with the selection for a two length beating on their last meeting over course and distance. You could say that the turn around in the weights is sufficient enough to reverse the placings but the selection looked to have a little extra up his sleeve that day and looks good enough to overcome the difference in the weights. Bold Policy won a maiden hurdle at Fontwell in December but has really struggled to recapture that form of late. He is tried in cheek pieces for the first time to enhance his enthusiasm and this drop in grade will also be a welcome scenario so he should be monitored in the betting market. Lord Baskerville is the form horse in the race and is taken to overcome his seven pound penalty.
