In depth

Verdict

A very nice prize and the prospect of good jumping ground has attracted a huge field headed at the weights by Southfield Vic, who completed a double over the trip before being found out when stepped up in class at Aintree. His trainer also runs Keltus, who was a bit disappointing when beaten at Fontwell in May. Vintage Vinnie won a Listed contest at Market Rasen in September but is 13lb higher after scoring at Aintree while Templestatefloresco warmed up for this with an easy victory over timber at Fontwell. Jonjo O'Neill has three entries and IN THE ROUGH, who loves it around here, could come out best of the trio and follow up his victory over the track in May. There are numerous dangers including Shelford, who is 13lb lower than his hurdles mark, the surprise bet365 winner Henlann Harri, and especially Optimistic Bias, on a four-timer and still looking leniently treated.
