In depth

Verdict

GREAT ENDEAVOUR looks a fair prospect and is preferred to Jaunty Journey and Its A Classic. The selection caught the eye on more than one occasion last term when getting the better of the likes of Any Currency, Bluegun and Billie Magern amongst others and there was plenty to like about his reappearance. That came in a Listed Handicap at Cheltenham where he finished just a length behind the promising Lie Forrit. He won his only start in an Irish point so should have no problem jumping a fence and he'll be expected to rank higher before the season's out. Its A Classic has to concede weight to the selection having taken a handicap at Plumpton from a mark of 90; that was just his first win in seven attempts over fences but he'll handle the conditions and has experience on his side. Jaunty Journey made a winning debut for his new trainer at Chepstow so the testing conditions here will hold no fears for him. He finished a close third behind Tarablaze in a Grade 3 hurdle at Haydock so is no mug himself and could have more improvement in him and connections have already touted him as a Welsh National type. He can make it interesting but preference is for Great Endeavour.
