Verdict

CALUSA CRYSTAL gets the nod over Laureate Des Loges and Sindanna. It is something of a surprise to see Philip Hobbs taking another chance to go to the well with his mare but with the season coming to an end on Saturday, she will lose her novice status so this represents a chance to strike again while the opportunity is available. Laureate Des Loges has patchy lines of form. Henry Daly's horses seem to be in much better order than what they were. Sindanna won a bumper for Alan King though has struggled under both codes for new connections. Midsummer Magic is likely to force the issue from the front. A return to two miles should suit. Itea du Fau makes a British debut having previously won in France. Braybrooke Lady is well bred and could conceviably improve for this sounder surface. Byzantia Fair makes a debut for Henrietta Knight having had two years off. Brendan Powell has had a torrid season but his runners are gradually coming back to some semblance of form. For those reasons, Bathwick Quest comes into the equation if money is seen in the ring. Calusa Crystal is no gimme with her welter burden but life will be tougher than this in the future.
