      Verdict

MILORD will have to settle better than he did when falling at Kempton last time if he's to get home on this much stiffer track. But he's been competing at a much higher level and is the one to beat on his second to Dunraven Storm at Ascot in November. Ampleforth has been racing over longer trips but did only find one too good at Southwell last time, when Silent Knight was remote fifth, and did win over 2m on the Flat last summer. Alanjou was an expensive failure at Fontwell in October but Fakenham third Polstar has some scope and looks the pick of the remainder.
