    In depth

    Verdict

GOLDEN HIND won at Newcastle last year and will be sharper for last month’s reappearance. David O’Meara’s in-form yard has won two of the last three renewals and his filly has scope for further progress. Sociologist won at Southwell recently but has a poor strike rate on Turf while Viceregent returns to action with a shout on last year’s best form. Smart Lass finished in front of Chief Craftsman when second at Musselburgh while Furzig is best on the all-weather and has yet to take advantage of a much lower mark on this surface. Breguet Boy may prove best of the rest.
