Verdict

Most of these enter the fray in very good form including Belle Royale, who beat the useful Below Zero at Chester. The run of Kingscroft that day should be ignored as he banged his head in the stalls and was soon struggling. Midsummer Fair was well beaten on his handicap debut at Haydock where he didn't enjoy the soft ground while Polar Kite and Tullius fought out the finish at Pontefract and are handicapped to dead-heat. SKILFUL was having his first start since November when a very easy maiden winner at Lingfield in May and this progressive son of Selkirk can make a winning handicap debut. Anoint can do much better than he showed at Newmarket while Federation looked a very nice prospect when making all in a maiden over the C&D in July and is one to keep an eye on.
