Verdict

Strensall has ground conditions to suit and has to be respected in a tricky finale along with Polar Force but preference is for Cerulean Rose, who is taken to make the most of the faourable terms. The selection is set to go up 3lbs in future handicaps following an improved display behind Linda Green at Bath last time and, with the drop in trip no hindrance, she is taken to resume winning ways. Proud Western won a seller at Musselburgh last time and has more to do in a handicap today so of more interest may be top weight Strensall, who would not want any further rain. Sir Sandrovitch is still well handicapped on the pick of his form and has to be respected, particularly if the market speaks in his favour, while Ice Planet is gradually coming down to a fair mark but probably needs more help from the handicapper. Mynd has claims on the form shown at Ripon and would have a chance if the heavens opened but a bigger threat is likely to come from Polar Force, who showed improved form when beating Mugeba (runs in the 5.00pm race) at Yarmouth last time but is now 11lbs higher in the weights. The vote then goes to Cerulean Rose, who is well treated at the weights and is taken to make the most of the favourable terms.
