      Verdict

BALERINA'S victory at Kempton last month came in a conditionals' race so she escapes a penalty here. Third subsequently in a handicap at Doncaster, Alan King's filly is undoubtedly the one to beat in this opener. Mavalenta finished last when well backed at Plumpton last month while it's difficult to make a case for any of the others with previous experience. Newcomers Shianda and Shesells Seashells both won on the Flat, however, though it's difficult to know what to make of the once-raced Napoleons Mistress.
