In depth

Verdict

A very tricky selling hurdle to assess here with 16 runners going to post and a chance is taken with David Pipe's four-year-old CASUAL STYLE to go in ahead of Just For Jean and Bet Noir. The selection is an ex flat that used to apply her trade over sprint distances. It's interesting that the Pipe team have taken her on board as she seems to be a non stayer. In saying that she has been running well enough on testing tracks and today's flat sharp course should suit her. She will need the ground to be quick so any rain is not welcomed on her part. Donald McCain has his string in great order at the moment and Just For Jean cannot be discounted on that basis alone. She had been running over staying trips but its clear she hasn't been getting home. All her form is around the two mile trip so she must have a chance in a race that will not take much winning. Bet Noir is another horse from an in form yard and Tony Carroll's mare must be monitored. Others to note in a very difficult race are Bonzeno Queen, Broadway Allstar and Lady Sorcerer. Casual Style gets a very tentative vote in the hope she will get home on today's track but Just For Jean and Bet Noir may be safer alternatives.
