A bad race that PAYMASTER IN CHIEF is chanced in at the principal expense of Takelli and Bathwick Pursuit. Mark Usher's charge was a maiden on the flat but as a son of the stayer, Minardi, it would be a surprise were he not able to stay two miles. Takelli could be put in as a short price favourite. He showed significant improvement for the addition of cheekpieces and a tongue tie. The application of a visor suggests that he probably is something of a thinker. Bathwick Pursuit represents the David Pipe yard so it would be folly to dismiss him in this grade. Royal Max found Addison De Witt too good at Perth. This is a drop in grade tonight. Pure Crystal is exposed as ordinary so it would be disappointing were there nothing to show past her. Trapeze Artist represents a yard who can have them ready first time out so the market is accordingly monitored. Not a race to linger long over and Paymaster In Chief can collect.
