Verdict

Emma Lavelle won this race last year and she could retain the prize with BALLYCARNEY who has our confidence in preference to Putney Bridge and Sou'wester. Up 10lbs for an easy success in a slightly weaker race last time the pick seems to be on a progressive run of form and there is every possibility he has been aimed at this contest. Putney Bridge has a 100% record at this track in two starts and is also clearly on form. He was a 23 length winner last time and under a 7lb penalty he looks well-in. Sou'wester has been holding his form well since scoring at Wincanton in April. He only found the one too good last time but the assessor hasn't done him any favourites putting his rating up a couple of lbs. Tot Of The Knar might be value for a place racing off bottom weight with a course and distance win to his name but in a tight race we'll take a chance on Ballycarney.
