Verdict

The Job, Monkey Madge and Golden Spectrum form the shortlist and our selection is for the first named. Adie Smith's representative has an appalling draw to work from last week but he is a consistent sort when things are in his favour and it looks interesting that Tony Culhane has been booked this afternoon. Monkey Madge looked a winner in waiting during her most recent start. She did not do a lot wrong during her run over course-and-distance on Tuesday and she is offered due respect at this level. Golden Spectrum provided a red-letter day for William Carson. Today's trip is one furlong shorter and the grade is higher. On old form, Golden Spectrum would have a chance although he is far from the most consistent of creature. Doctor Dennis is far from straight forward. His most recent victory attracted a 3lb rise and he will need a canny piece of riding from the saddle to make his present felt this afternoon. Mount Royale has looked very difficult to win with of late and is unlikely to get a soft lead. A tough race and we will side with The Job at a working man's price.
