Verdict

Polar Haze makes a quick reappearance, and gets the vote over Amelia, Champagne Rider and Shahm in a wide open handicap. The latter should be watched in the market as he came good last time and comes from an extremely shrewd yard, but we were taken with the latest effort by Polar Haze and select him to improve enough to return to the winner's enclosure. The Lydia Pierce-trained seven-year-old has gained all his three career wins here at Southwell, and will appreciate the return to his favourite track after finishing second at Wolverhampton earlier this week. Granted, he has been keeping lowly company, but seems to be returning to form, and is worth chancing at what should be a decent price. Amelia is only small but that has not stopped her winning in the past and she showed signs of a return to form in a similar event to this at Wolverhampton 17 days ago. She must go on the shortlist along with Champagne Rider, a regular visitor here since last summer who takes a small rise in class after a class H victory last week. Larky's Lob, Lady Natilda and Never Without Me cannot be discounted for place purposes in a weak race like this, but for the pick of the bunch, we return to Polar Haze to small stakes.
