In depth

Verdict

Cash On Friday had to work hard for his win at Hexham earlier this month on his return to hurdling and a 6lb rise for that success does look harsh but Richard Guest's gelding still looks well treated on his chase form and gets the vote to follow up with the main dangers rated as Valentia Island and Apollo Creed. The last mentioned was good value for his win at Uttoxeter over two miles earlier this month but he was well held at Bangor subsequently when tried over further and may now be best watched. Castlemainevillage has rather harshly been raised 8lbs for his win in a seller at Bangor at the beginning of the month, while Gaelic Present has given little sign of encouragement in two starts in handicaps of late. Jim Old's Top Ram has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated of late and of more interest may be the lightly raced Valentia Island, who comes from the in-form Venetia Williams stable. Cash On Friday has solid claims though and he gets the vote to win again.
