In depth

Verdict

A chance is taken with Luvvie One, who represents a yard with a solid strike-rate on the All Weather and this daughter of Elnadin edges preference over Compton Lad and Little Trump, who at least have experience on their side. However, neither has really caught the eye significantly enough to merit a confident selection and they may just need more time. Compton Lad showed plenty of zest until he started to hang late on in his Catterick debut. That race has already produced a selling stakes winner and it will not be surprising to see him come in for support to make amends today. Nevertheless, he was made to look pedestrian in the closing stages and could be vulnerable to a more forward type. Little Trump should be a bit wiser as to what is required after going close over course and distance 20 days ago. She was very slowly away on that occasion though and will need to be on the ball from the off this time around. Therefore, we are prepared to side with Luvvie One, who is a half-sister to several winners at a variety of trips. Most notably, for the purposes of this race, Accicula, who was just short of Listed class for Mark Johnston a few years ago. An added factor for siding with Luvvie One is the profitability of supporting Paul Blockley's juveniles - a healthy ¿40+ profit over the last three years makes for impressive reading considering the means at his disposal.
