Bivouac may good enough to make a winning debut, with Shaftesbury Avenue, Western Land and Paymaster General others worth a mention at least. This moderate contest could easily be well within the scope of Bivouac, for whom the booking of Jamie Spencer catches the eye. The son of Jade Robbery is sure to have been well readied by his astute trainer, and he is selected to come good at the first time of asking. Shaftebury Avenue never raced for Aidan O'Brien, and was tried over 12-furlongs by current connections on his debut at Wolverhampton. He was then dropped right back to six furlongs here nine days ago, and with first-time blinkers on, managed to give a much better account in finishing second to the odds-on Captain Jacksparra. The extra furlong will help his cause, and he can give the selection most to do. Western Land is related to plenty of winners abroad and should be noted in the market, while Paymaster General can boast three promising efforts on Turf last summer, and if anywhere near fit, can also be involved. However, it would be no surprise if Bivouac came up trumps at the first time of asking, and he gets a cautionary vote.
