In depth

Verdict

In the finale, Tee Jay Kassidy gets the vote ahead of Simply The Guest, Mr Benji and Warlingham. The selection comes here on a roll, having won his last two races over course and distance. Much as he hung to his left on the latter occasion and carries a six-pound penalty, he looks the type to follow until beaten. Simply The Guest is a dual course and distance winner and, being currently rated a pound below the most recent of those successes, has to be afforded plenty of respect. Mr Benji is also a course and distance winner who is two pounds above a winning mark, but Ellen Mooney, who is well weighted based on her January form, really seems to have lost her way since then. Off Beat is also well handicapped on his juvenile form but also seems to have lost his way. Cayman Calypso has a squeak on the best of his August Turf form and is now equipped with first-time blinkers. Similarly, Kaymich Perfecto won at Mijas during the spring, was noted staying on over a shorter trip last time and wears cheekpieces for the first time. However, he has six lengths to find on Warlingham based on that run. To be fair, Warlingham is another to be well weighted based on his form earlier in the year at Wolverhampton and on Turf, so is another to be afforded plenty of respect. That said, on this occasion, we will side with the in-form Tee-Jay Kassidy.
