In depth

Verdict

Recent winner Roman Quintet looks set for a follow up victory here at the expense of Kingsmaite and No Grouse. David Arbuthnot's five-year-old returned to this track in January following a year's holiday, and has steadily improved throughout the year, culminating in a hard fought success over Island Rapture last month. There should be plenty more in the locker and he looks the one to beat here. Kingsmaite was a decent winner at Wolverhampton recently and still looks on a fair mark on his return to this track where he has been successful in the past. Meanwhile No Grouse, who returns from a three month break, must have claims on his victory over Western Roots at Dunstall Park in December. Any money for Sir Northerndancer would be interesting and Kew The Music is another to keep on the right side, however Roman Quintet has more scope for improvement than most of these and just edges the decision.
