Verdict

Andrew Balding - currently in scintillating form - captured this prize 12 months ago and saddles another obvious contender this time around in the shape of DIXIELAND DIVA. The Cape Blanco filly had two subsequent winners in arrears when finishing a runner-up behind Quivery in a hot seven furlong maiden on her only start at Newmarket last summer and, given the strong US influence on her pedigree, there is every chance she will handle this Fibresand surface with the step up in trip sure to suit. Craving has placed in each of his last five starts on Tapeta and Polytrack and rates the principal threat on his Fibresand debut, though Involved caught the eye over a clearly inadequate seven furlongs at Wolverhampton first time out and warrants a second look under Luke Morris. Love Rat has twice placed over the course and distance but took a step backwards here last time.
