Verdict

A disappointing field of just four for the richest race on the card, and TURKISH SURPRISE looks the pick of the quartet, with Manmoon probably the most likely challenger. Alan King's gelding was disappointing last time out when pulled up at Cheltenham in the Festival Plate, but the ground may have been against him then. There's not a lot here for him to beat though, and a step down in grade from what he's been used to looks a positive. Manmoon was pulled up twice in handicaps after winning over hurdles in January, but last time out jumped really well on his chasing debut in coming second in a lower grade contest. Prince Vector's having his first run out for six months, and this is his chase debut. He's not always looked the most straightforward, but he's done well since switching yards after being claimed last year. Ortega won on debut in France, but is subsequently 0 from 35 here, and looks one to swerve. He's officially rated 58 pounds lower than Turkish Surprise. It looks a match up between Manmoon and Turkish Surprise, with preference for the latter.
