      In depth

      Verdict

Peter Monteith's MORE EQUITY has shown improved form this term with wins at Hexham and Cartmel and, having only been raised 5lbs for the latest of them, he looks more than capable of completing a hat-trick that he is taken to do with the main dangers rated as Lawgiver and Bijou Dan. George Moore's gelding improved from previous efforts over hurdles when running out the easy winner of a novice hurdle here over the extended two miles last time. As he stays two miles on the flat, the longer trip should not be a problem for the eight-year-old but of more concern may be the fact that he has been raised 10lbs since that success. Lahib The Fifth has slipped to a decent mark after some disappointing efforts but showed signs of a return to form here last time, while Jennie Candlish's Downing Street was not disgraced behind Englishtown at Southwell on his most recent start over timber but disappointed on the level at York last month. Evelyn Slack's Woody Valentine has been running consistently well but looks plenty high enough in the weights and of more interest may be Essifer, who has shown better form in Ireland of late. Marjorie Fife's Lawgiver has done little wrong of late and should again be involved at the finish but a better bet looks to be More Equity, who gets the vote to win again.
