In depth

Verdict

The market should offer the best clues for the opener although of those having racecourse experience, it is interesting that Clive Brittain has firstly, elected to keep Tokewanna in maiden company and secondly, booked Kevin Darley for the mount. The filly was third over seven furlongs at Warwick last time out but her two earlier efforts over five can be forgiven as it looks to have taken a while for the penny to drop. Richard Hannon's two-year-olds have carried all before them this season and he introduces a Night Shift colt in Meelup. There is plenty of speed in the pedigree and any positive market move would be of interest. Alec Stewart looks to have a speedy type in Night Games but the tentative vote goes to Granuaile O'Malley. Peter Harris had an impressive first time out winner at Pontefract on Friday and the stable is in good form. The dam was a very useful two-year-old who had enough speed to come second in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and it is hoped that she has passed her speed down the line to her daughter.
